The Story Of Shipra Khanna: Making Lemonade Out Of Life’s Lemon

The amazing journey of Shipra Khanna’s life will surely give everyone the motivation to live their lives in their own way and with pride and breaking all the society barriers to follow their passion.
We all know Shipra as the celebrity chef who won MasterChef India Season 2 and gave her life a totally new direction towards success and respect. However, this was not how her story started. She was a very under-confident cook as her cooking never went past the walls of her kitchen. She wanted to win MasterChef but not for the prize alone...for the respect more.

Before the competition, Shipra was living a life which is still led by a lot of women, unfortunately. Being a slave to her husband and in-laws, Shipra was facing dowry abuses, physical and mental tortures and much more. "Divorce creates a bad impression of the woman in the society and puts an end to the respect and dignity from society for her," said her husband. This was the only threat by her husband that was stopping her from fighting for herself. Shipra couldn’t even ignore the fact that a separation will affect her two children badly.
Shipra asked for help to those who are said to be the best protectors in the world. She opened everything up to her parents and hoped for the best solution. The only word she heard from them was "adjust". They suggested that she should adjust to her life, her husband, to her in-laws and even to her malevolent brother-in-law as that is the only way to fix any situation. They asked Shipra to do anything to avoid the disgrace and certain social death that divorce would bring.Shipra  was still "Adjusting" with the abuses that were coming her way, but she was desperate to give it to them for the way they behaved with her children. She was not okay with how her in-laws would think Yadavi was their biggest embarrassment

What Shipra’s husband didn’t know was that when a limit is crossed, people can turn their weakness to their ultimate strength. Shipra finally dared to leave her husband and got ready to accept any obstacle that comes her way. Within a year of leaving him, Shipra participated in the MasterChef India Season 2 just to give her life a new direction. What she didn’t expect was the gift God had decided to give her for her bravery.
Shipra proved herself when she was given a great gift by being announced as the winner in Mumbai where the program, watched by 2.6 million viewers every episode, was filmed.
“For me, MasterChef was a miracle, a gift from God. Don't let your self-respect go. You have to be courageous at just one point and say 'enough'. Then all the rest follows.” – Shipra
